VMWare Workstation Pro 16-17 Bridged Network

I have the following configuration:

Windows 11 Pro running on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 1 (i7/64GB RAM) with Intel Wireless-AC 9560 installed.

Downloaded VMware Workstation Pro 17 yesterday and installed. Then downloaded Kali 2022.3 and installed as a guest in VMware workstation. The default settings for the network adapter was NAT. Changed it to Bridged network and all connectivity was lost. The icon depicting the network connectivity on the right top corner of the screen was revolving and intermittently received a message saying the the network is disconnected.

Everything works normal when I set the network adapter to NAT with the wireless connection. I have tried the same with VMWare Workstation Pro 16 and got the same results. Followed the steps outlined by JSON SEC as well as others from the internet and I still cannot set the network adapter to a bridged connection with the wireless switched on.

I have seen a lot of people complaining about this and the solution given always is to invoke the Virtual network editor and set the "bridged to:" to the specific physical wireless card instead of leaving it as Automatic. I tried this too and still unable to get the bridged network setting working.

Any solutions?

I have also encountered the same problem, that with installation of vmware workstation 17 pro,

the bridge network could not be chosen as network connection.

In the virtual network editor preferences there are only vnet1 (custom) and vnet8 (nat) but no vnet0.

I have tried to change one of them to bridged, this doesn't work.

I have tried to add vnet0, this works, but i can't change it to bridged mode.
