Using VMWare Workstation running an Ubuntu VM on a Windows 8 64 bit platform.
Windows Update forced restart.
Upon restart VM Guest (Network in Bridged mode) - can no longer get a lease from our DHCP server.
---Much Debugging----
Issue solved when we disable Windows 8 Firewall on the Host.
Problem resolution was to re-add the VM Workstation as an allowed app on the firewall Application Settings.
Windows Update removed the VM Ware workstation (not sure how)
Re-enable Windows Firewall and all works as it should.
If you experience a loss of connectivity after Windows Update check the firewall settings.
