VMWare Workstation Disk Space issue

I have a VM Lab that i use for SCCM testing and learning. Looking at the folder size on the host i am getting 150GB.

Looking inside a VM my disk size is 139 GB with 40Gb free space.

My vm's are on the 256 ssd disk and i am running out of space. Is there any way to resolve the size issue?

Thank you.

No - in VMware Workstation, right-click the vm.

If there's any space you can get back, try right-click the vm -> "Manage" -> "Clean Up Disks".

If not, you'll have to see if you can uninstall anything on the vm.

The Client VM still have about 40gb free space, why is a drive on the host running out?

Right click on the drive? Inside the VM? On the host?

Thanks

The Client VM still have about 40gb free space, why is a drive on the host running out?

Because when you delete files from a hard drive, they don't actually get deleted - only the FAT table entries for them (this is why undelete utilities can work).  So even though to your guest, you have free space available on the virtual hard drive, to your host, the files which make up the virtual hard drive actually contain bits - they are not all zeros.

Thank you for explaining. Is there any way to free up that space?

The "clean up disks" command tht gimmely mentioned earlier in the thread should do the trick.  I was giving more of the explanation of why it is necessary.
