VMWare Workstation 15.1 Pro crashes host

I purchased a new DELL XPS computer and copied the VMWare image files to new computer. Installed VMWare Workstation 15.1 on new computer. I can open the image files but when I attempt to run the image, the host computer crashes (reboot). Every VMWare Image I have tried has done this. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Workstation 15.1 is old ... may 2019 and windows has changed a LOT of low level things that will impact virtualisation products.

If you don't want to pay for an upgrade to Workstation 16.1 then at least start by trying with the latest Workstation 15: Workstation 15.5.7 for windows

Wil,

Thank you, that was easy! I upgraded to 15.5.7 and the images ran without crashing the host computer.

I am not against purchasing 16.1 but I normally would not do that just to try and fix a problem. Your solution was the key.
