VMWare Subnet Mask problem

On "mouse responsiviness" issue on another thread I looked at the event viewer on my VMWare Image and see an error message saying "The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer ARIZONAXX (this is the host computer) that believes that it is themaster browser for the donmain orn transport so and so" Googling this message produced an explaination regarding windows 2000 that there was a subnet mask mismatch. So I did an IPConfig on my host and it is pasted below.

I don't understand VMNet1 and VMNet8 or IPV4/IPV6 but it looks like something is wrong with the subnet mask on VMNet1 - it doesn't match the others. Can someone help me out?

how come that your virtual network adapter 1 has this IP of the 169 range ?

did you disable the VMware DHCP service ?

I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest vmware workstation. The ipconfig no longer has the strange IP but the mouse problem still exists. Also the image still gets the following system message logged as an event when the image boots up. I have a hunch it is related:

The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer ARIZONAHP that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{9FBB9629-BF1A-4D04. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.
