VMWare 6 Workstation - Not able to connect to my "physical" network

hi,

i have installed VMWare 6 Workstation on my Windows Vista Sp1 - machine (host).

With VMWare i have virtualized a Win 2008 Server. The configuration for the ethernet is on "bridged".

On the host i have a physical NIC what is connect to a LevelOne Wireless Access Point (with Switch incorporated).

I'm not able to ping the physical NIC from the virtual Win 2008 Server. Have someone an idea what i do wrong?

Best regards

Oskar

  • Any firewalls in between? Switch them off temporarily.

  • Does the guest use DHCP? If so, does it receive an address?

  • Post "ipconfig /all" from host AND guest and the.vmx file from the guest.

Try the following hope it helps

- Try assigning static IP and see if it works

- try to configure VM for NAT and host-only mode and try to reboot the VM. See if it can fetch the IP.

- Are VMware tools installed in the VM

hi,

thanks for your answer. the DHCP-Client from Windows Server 2008 (guest) was the principal problem. Smiley Happy
