VMW Workstation Pro - Linux - No Mouse Click

After I boot my Windows VM, mouse clicks do not work but keyboard works fine. The only resolution is to reboot the VM and hope that it works afterwards.

This issue is intermittent but happens several times a week.

Strange thing is that the first mouse click to get to login screen works ok.

Can anyone provide me steps to troubleshoot this issue when it occurs?

My system is a fully updated Ubuntu 20.04.4 with fully updated VMware Workstation Pro.

The guest with the issue is Windows Server 2016 Standard.

This issue is still ongoing. I have noticed that it consistently happens the first time I boot the Windows Server VM after a host restart. Because its consistent, this should make it easier to troubleshoot.

 

Can someone in VMware please let me know how to get to a solution for this issue? I'll be glad to grab whatever information you need to assist.

Did you solve the issue?
I just noticed something similar on my Debian system. It was related to the version of the xserver packages.
The problem occurred right after an upgrade of these packages and I could solve it by downgrading them to the former version.
