VMW Workstation 15.5 USB Autoconnect wont go away

I'm trying to stop my USB headset from autoconnecting when the VM comes on and i've followed the instructions for editing the usbarb.rules and .vmx files but nothing helps. i have my vmware.log file after setting USB debugging option if needed for troubleshooting.

Please remove %programdata%\vmware\vmware USB arbitration service\usbarb.rules. If that does not work, please remove any lines as usb.autoConnect.device# from .vmx file. Let me know if it works for you. If not, please attach vmware.log.

I removed the rules file, didnt help. I cannot find the usb.autoconnect entry in the vmx. i have attached the log file

In fact when i delete the rules file, it gets recreated with the USB device connected. It must be getting that from somewhere...

When you remove the rule files, did you close VMware Workstation? Please also attach C:\Windows\Temp\vmware-SYSTEM\vmware-usbarb-*.log files when reproducing the issue. Thanks!
