VMDK file without an OS..

Hi..

I am running VMware Workstation 9.. I have 2 VMDK files.. Both need to work together.. 1 holds a CRM application (A), the other holds the CRM database (B). A has Windows Server 2008 R2 & B is just a data drive without a bootable OS. A Powers On and boots just fine, but I do not know how to link it to B.

Obviously if I mount B as a Virtual Machine, it will not come up as it's non-bootable. I am having a logic fit here ! Can some one help me please..

Thanks

Just add it as a second virtual hard disk in the Virtual Machine's settings! Smiley Wink

Have a look at: Add an Existing Virtual Hard Disk to a Virtual Machine

PS.. Using the #1 Hard Disk (IDE) > Utilities > Map...

I am given the drive mapping option of I->Z when I need to use C:

Using the #2 Hard Disk (IDE) > Utilities > there is no Map... Only Disconnect

I need this drive to be 😧

thanks

I'm not sure why you are trying to map the disks!? Anyway if you followed the link provided by WoodyZ, you should see the two disks in the guest OS (your Windows 2008 VM). If no drive letter has been assigned automatically, you can do this using the guest's Windows Disk Management.

Thanks guys I have realised I am attempting to load a VMDK files which were created from a Hyper-V environment which will not work.

Thanks for your time & efforts..
