I just upgraded to VM Workstation 8 running on top of Server 2008 SP2.
I am currently running three VM's (XP, XP and Windows 7).
I can start all three VM's and they all are running. When I try to access a live VM via VM Workstation, the App closes but the VM's are still running.
So, I have three working VM's but I cannot access them from the UI.
got any ideas?
jeff
Could you attach the UI log? The location of the UI log is shown in the Help > About dialog. (You'd need to find and note the location, then reproduce the problem, and then upload that log file.)
can you run them in vmplayer ?
The log file after reproducing the problem. The good news is that the problem is totally consistent.

Yes, they run fine in VM Player. Also, I can access, and modify individual VM's from another computer via RDP.
So, it appears that the VM's themselves are fine, but there is something mucking up with the VMware application.
That's really weird. It seems like vmware.exe crashed but didn't leave a crash dump. Does the Windows Event viewer have anything suspicious? Another possibility is that some anti-virus or firewall software for some reason is forcibly terminating the vmware.exe process.
I wiped the machine and re-installed Server 2008 + VM 8.
VM 8 and all of my previous VM's works fine now.
