VM WS 6.0.2 Linux FC7 host, kernel 2.6.21-1.3194.fc7. "Direct" read-write support for USB attached disk drive is working

Just to note.

In VM WS 6.0.0 I could attach a USB disk drive to a Win XP SP2 guest. However, the device only connected in READ mode in the guest. In order to write to the device from guest I had to use (either):

1) a Samba server on the Linux host and map network drive in Windows XP guest

or

2) Create shared folder in VM WS guest configuration mapped on to a folder on the USB drive. Then in Win XP SP2 guest, mapped a network drive to device ./host (./host in guest represents the VM WS shared folder - standard stuff).

Now with VM WS 6.0.2, I can attach the USB drive to the guest and it opens in READ/WRITE mode. On my Win XP SP2 guest the USB drive "appears" as drive I - no network device mapping is required in Win XP guest.
