Unable to restore this guest the target host does not support cpuid faulting

Hi,

A virtual machine in VMware Workstation 12 has been stoped on  a machine that has a CPU Intel Core i5 3210M. Then this VM was tried to be started on a different machine that has a CPU

Intel i7-8750H. But the start operation did not work. There was a message dialogue box with a messages.VT-D enable Intel Virtualization-Enablevmware 12.PNG

The listing contains the mentioned .vmem file. You may need to change the Explorer setting, so that file extensions will be displayed. They are hidden by default.

Ok, and what happened when you tried to go to this snapshot?

I don't see an updated vmware.log in the file list.

I can't promise anything.

Please compress/zip MrBright-Snapshot366.vmsn as well as MrBright-Snapshot514.vmsn, and attach the .zip archive to a reply post (if the files can be compressed to an acceptable size). Maybe I can find out a way to modify these files to make them work.

As mentioned before, I can't promise anything, but you may try to see whether the attached .vmsn file will allow you to open the snapshot.

Please rename/backup the original files MrBright-Snapshot514.vmsn, and MrBright-Snapshot514.vmem, so that you can restore these files in case the attached file doesn't work.

That's expected. Are you able to run the VM after clicking "Discard"?

Need to click Discard? I have not pressed this button yet

Need to click Discard?

Yes, since the snapshot has been created with the powered on VM, and it can't resume due to the different CPUs, it needs to be powered off, and restarted. "Discard" will allow you to go to the snapshot, but will set the VM's state to powered off.

When I select "Discard" nothing happens, the machine turns off

That's the expected behavior. Does the Snapshot Manager show the "You are here" tag next to the selected snapshot after that, i.e. does the VM power on (you need to power it on manually) in the expected state?
