Unable to redirect printer

Hello All,

I had a HP Printer, which connect to my virtual client without any issues. Now I bought a new printer, again HP, but now the printer is not linked to my VM.

When I run tpautoconnect, I get "Unknown client type":

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools>TPAutoConnect.exe -v

ThinPrint AutoConnect component, Copyright (c) 1999-2017 ThinPrint GmbH, 10.2.960.2

Try ThinPrint Client on <client>:4000.

connected.

Client Type --> [0x04]: Unknown client type.

Client reply --> [0xfffffffe]: Unknown client reply [-2].

Unicode version of GetPrinterList not supported by client.

Try ThinPrint Client on <client>:4000.

connected.

Client Type --> [0x04]: Unknown client type.

Client reply --> [0xfffffffe]: Unknown client reply [-2].

Printer list not read.

No printers to be created in this session were found.

Exiting with code ... (219)

Client inside VM is Windows 10 x64 build (10.0.15063), with latest updates.

I upgraded to VMware 14.1.3 build 9474260 recently.

VMware Tools 10.2.5.8068393 is installed.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hello all,

problem solved.

Before I uninstalled, and installed VMware tools, but that didn't help. That's why I posted.

After posting, I tried "changing" VMware tools. I uninstalled only the Thinprint part. Then rebooted, installed Thinprint again, and a last reboot.

After that last reboot, everything works.

The description for Event ID 4002 from source ThinPrint AutoConnect cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

ThinPrint AutoConnect component, Copyright (c) 1999-2017 ThinPrint GmbH, 10.2.960.2

Virtual channel initialized.

Client Type --> [0x00]: WIN32

Client reply --> [0x01]: Client accepted connection.

Printer: Send To OneNote 2013   Class:     ID: 1
