Unable to open file, VM Window7 x 64 Ultimate

Hi all,

May I seek for your help for I can't launch the VM since I upgraded to VM11 and have been using it for three months.

One day it suddenly shown: Unable to open file "/Users/Home/Documents/vm/Win7 Ultimate (TC+EN) with Office.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk.vmdk":The system cannot find the file specified.

How can I solve it? Thank you very much!

Welcome to the Community,

by default virtual disks (as well as snapshots) in VMware Fusion consist of several files, based on the provisioned size.

There's a small header/descriptor file (e.g. "Virtual Disk.vmdk"), and several data ("Virtual Disk-s###.vmdk") files.

The error message you see usually shows up if one of the "...-s###.vmdk" is missing (for whatever reason). So - as a first step - please check whether all of these files exist.

In case of a missing file, please check the lost+found and/or trash folder.

If you are unsure, or there's a missing file, please provide a complete list of files in the VM's folder (including names, sizes, time stamps). This will help to find out whether it is possible to fix the VM.
