I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an HP Compaq 8510w. I installed Workstation 7 and the installation went fine, but after a restart, I get the CTRLALTDEL screen and I'm able to put in my password, but then the system just sits at the Welcome screen. I never get my desktop and after 5 minutes or so, eventually goes back to the CTRLALTDEL screen.
I'm able to get into Safe Mode and the only entry I can see in the Application Log that might be related is the following:
Source = WinLogon
Event ID = 6005
Level = Warning
OpCode = Info
Description = The winlogon notification subscriber is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logon).
Any help would be appreciated. I don't know what other routes to take besides uninstalling Workstation, but that really isn't an option.
