Unable to install XP - Bluescreens on start of text base part.

Hi,

Been trying to do some testing of workstation (current version) and come across a problem. I cannot get the XP install to go past the start of the text based install wothout bluescreening with an 0x0000007F error. I have managed to install other os's (linux) with no problem but XP just wont have it. I have tried both home (SP3) and Pro (sp1) using the buslogic and lsi drivers with no luck so am hoping someone can give me some pointers on whats going wrong...

I have had this working before but just had to replace the system drive in my work station dues to a failure so thought I would take the ooportunity to put in 2 drives in a raid 0 array. I am also running Vista 64 (which I was before as well) with 4gb ram with a core 2 cpu. everything else is fine and working until i come to install xp!

any thoughts anyone?

Here are the vmx and log file right after the blue screen and then powering off the vm.

Your ISO is stored on your H:\ drive. What kind of drive is your H:\ drive (Is it a Drobo)? The ISO referenced in your VMX appears to be a technet or MSDN download. Please check the MD5 or SHA sum of the downloaded ISO file to verify that it matches the download page.

I notice that you're running Workstation 6.5.0. 6.5.1 is available for download. Not sure if it will fix your specific issue, but maybe try updating to 6.5.1?

Actually it's stored on the c drive . I did use the H drive (its USB) when I first installed workstation but decided it wasn't such a good idea. I have checked the MD5 and its fine I have also tried a retail XP Pro cd with the same reults.

Ok I updated the install to 6.5.1 and the XP install went straight through... while that's great I do wonder what was wrong with the previous version.... any how thanks for the suggestion.
