You haven't provided adequate information to effectively troubleshoot your issue(s)!
How do you expect to get any analytical diagnostic help without providing relevant explicit and specific information to do so?
The bottom line is, if the Virtual Machine has Internet/Network Connectivity then this is really not a VMware issue per se. In other words you haven't configured something properly. Like the Service on the Virtual Machine you're trying to interact with or the Router on the Physical LAN, etc.
Anyway before testing anything from the WAN side you need to test from the LAN side and make sure you can connect to the Virtual Machine from the Host and if available another system on the LAN and if you can but then not from the WAN the issue is most likely in the Router on the Physical LAN.
If you want analytical diagnostic help then provide all of the relevant explicit and specific information to do so. ![]()
Hi,
yes am able to communicate from host machine to vmware. and am able to browse internet from the vmware image and its communicating with our servers as well like dhcp etc...am trying to access the vmware image from LAN only. but am not really sure why i am not able to access the vmware image from other systems like am not able to ping or unable to take RDP.
Thanks
Okay, let me make sure I have this straight. The Virtual Machine has basic Internet/Network Connectivity, yes? Then I do not see this as a VMware issue but a User Configuration Issue.
Now in your OP you say "but from outside network i am not able to connect" yet now you're saying "am trying to access the vmware image from LAN only", so which is it? Are you trying to access the Virtual Machine from the LAN Only or both the LAN and WAN (Internet)?
Also since you mentioned "RDP" I'm going to assume that is the Service you're trying to interact with, yes? Have you properly configured it in the Guest OS and have to preformed any tests to see if the appropriate ports are open?
Can the Host connect to the Guest via RDP?
Can another system on the LAN connect to the Virtual Machine via RDP?
What Host OS?
What Guest OS?
What version of VMware Workstation?
The Virtual Machine has basic Internet/Network Connectivity, yes.
am trying to access this vmware image only from LAN not from WAN.
Host OS is :- windows xp 64bit sp2
Guest OS is :- windows server 2003 ent sp2
Vmware workstation version is :- 8.0.0 build-471780
Thanks
Well you didn't answer all of my questions, so I'm done trying to pull teeth. No offense intended, you really need to answer all questions asked and provide appropriate feedback for a diagnostic/troubleshooting process to effortlessly take place.
Since the Virtual Machine has basic Internet/Network Connectivity then without additional technical information I'd have to say you have not properly configured whatever Service your trying to access and if it is RDP then I'd suggest you consult appropriate Microsoft Documentation and Diagnostic/Troubleshooting Microsoft KB Articles that are available.
Have a look at: Troubleshooting RDP Client connection problems
Also have a look at: Troubleshooting RDP
Hi,
thanks for you replay. its not only RDP services am not able to ping the vmware image from anyother system except Host system.
Is the Host multi-homed? Set VMnet0 in the Virtual Network Editor to be bridged to a specific active Host NIC not the default Automatic.
Is the Host using WiFi Network Adapter or Wired Ethernet Adapter? If WiFi then test with Wired Ethernet Adapter after setting the appropriate NIC in the Virtual Network Editor for VMnet0. Some WiFi Network Adapter and or Routers have issues with bridging over WiFi and why if using WiFi you need to test with Wired to rule that out.
