Trouble installing Windows 98

I'm trying to install Win 98 with Workstation 6.02 and it's trying to do a network install, so I've tried creating a ISO file & point the cd to the location of the file and that is not working either. Anyone have any advice on changing some settings or something. Also, can you create new VM programs with the player as well or can this only be done with the Workstation.

Thanks

Trevor

As far as I know the WS 98 CD is not bootable and came with a boot floppy.

Windows 98 install CD is bootable, the floppy disk is in case your archaic BIOS doesn't support ATAPI boot.

Are you using a physical disc or ISO?

If you're using a Disc:

Is the Disc and original or a copy?

Are you mapping to your local CD or the ESX Server CD?

Did you check the checkbox that says "Connect at power on"?

I've tried the original win 98 disk & I've tried making a ISO file from that disk (not sure if I did it correctly) and pointing the cd to the file and neither worked. The box was checked for the connect power on as well. Any other suggestions.

Two options.

1) Mount the vmdk in another OS, format it FAT32, copy the 98 disc to \Win98, boot off of any DOS floppy image, traverse to the c:\win98 folder and run setup.

2) Mount the CD or ISO image, boot from a DOS flappy images with cdrom drivers, traverse to D:\ and run setup.

bootdisk.com has boot floppy images, make a point to have update AV software, I get mixed results with their images.
