I am having trouble getting into my virtual machine using remote desktop. I am using a NAT connection that was set up using this guide VMware KB: Connecting to VMware virtual machines using the Windows Remote Desktop utility
Could someone please help me figure out the problem?
Here is the ipconfig /all from the host machine:

The NAT settings in the virtual network editor are:
name type host dhcp subnet address
vmnet8 NAT Connected Enabled 192.168.73.0
gateway IP - 192.168.73.2
port forwarding
host -9997
TCP
virtual machine IP address - 192.168.73.128
I was able to RDP into a Windows Guest successfully via NAT in my lab.
Could you please check the Firewall in your WinSer2008R2 VM and also check if RDP is enabled in the Guest OS?
Thank you for your reply JSen,
Remote desktop is enabled, and I had turned off windows firewall on both the guest and the host server in hopes that it would solve the problem.
The host server is connected to an external firewall (which has had port 9997 opened up).
Shouldn't I be able to connect to the guest from the host regardless of the external firewall settings?
Does anyone else have any possible suggestions? The sooner I can figure this out, the better.
