I am sure that title has been pounded into obliteration.... but I am stuck so please help
My PC just upgraded from Windows 10-1709 to 1803... I can now no longer boot any 64bit VM's. The error I get is "This host does not support Intel VT-x, This host does not support intel EPT hardware assisted MMU virtualization, Module CPUIDEarly power on failed, Failed to start the Virtual Machine"
My Stats
- WIndows 10 1803
- Core i7-7500U Processor (clearly states in documentation that it supports virtualization {plus I was doing fine before 1803}) Another weird catch is intel's procsessor ID tool says virtualization not supported......when their website says otherwise.
- 16gb ram
- 120gb ssd and 1tb Spinning
What I have tried
- BIOS update
- made sure Hyper-V was totally off
- turned off the defender device guard (local group policy)
- updated to Workstation Pro 14
- Disabled VT-X in BIOS (changed the error in Workstation to the "this host supports virtualization but virtualization is disabled"
- Re-enabled back to original error
Am I missing something?????
I figured out that I had Barkly Rapid Visor installed, which is similar to Mcaffee Deep Defender, They even have an option in the admin console to disable VT Mode wich allows access to Intel VT-X again!
Maybe is the same issue related on this thread: VT-x is not available issue - After windows 10 1803 update with core - Microsoft Community
Hey, Thanks for the reply. I was able to try that this morning and it did not make any difference.

Thanks for your reply, sorry it took so long to get back to as I was out for the fourth. The processor I am running on is a 7th Gen Intel Core i7, It shouldn't have anything to do with being old. For kicks and giggles I uninstalled version 14 and reinstalled version 12 and now the error just says VT-X is not available.

I had the same problem with Barkly Endpoint Protection, your advice helps me a lot . Thank you, bpatterson082
Hi

My machine is i7, 16gig and i have tried everything. couple days ago i rolled back to windows 10 and everything started working fine but it automatically re-installed window 11 last night and now i have same issue again. Just giving it a try before rolling back to 10. Pls suggest if you think about anything other than barkly defender. thanks
