The file specified is not a virtual disk

Hi everyone,

I get this message when i try to map the vmdk or start the virtual machine.

My electricity shots down when I was changing the size of my HD partition.

The vmdk file was in that partition.

I just need to get some data what is in there.

Kind regards

Can you verify if the vmware.log is really garbage ?
Can you open that file with a texteditor ?

Please read my instructions here:
VMDK-Handbook-Basics
and extract the embedded descriptorfiles of both vmdk files you have.
Run the following two commands from a cmd-prompt in the correct directory please
dsfo.exe W7U64.vmdk 512 1024 base-descriptor.txt

dsfo.exe W7U64-000001.vmdk 512 1024 snap-descriptor.txt

Hello Christian
bad news - both files appear to be corrupt.
Did you use encryped VMDKs ?

If they are corrupt, there is no way to extract some data from them ?
