The emulation just can't work with the network card

I'm currently using VMware workstation 5.5.1 build and for some reason, my emulation doesn't seem to work well with my network card for Window Vista.

The emulation just can't work with the network card, I can connect from windows to the emulated red hat or fedora.

Is there a work around on this matter?

More detail, please... Host OS? Guest OS(s)?

What exactly is the issue? Does your guest obtain an IP address?

In addition to Rob's request for more info, please be aware that the virtual machine can't use "external" network cards. If the network card is working on the host, the VM will use its own network card to communicate. I believe it is AMD PCNetII. There is another, E1000, I think. Most versions of Windows have drivers for these. Search this forum for more detailed information on network troubleshooting and you will understand more fully what I mean.

Regards & Good Luck!

I'm sorry for the lack of details in my previous.

The Host OS is Window Vista and the guest OS is Fedora.

And yeah, i will search through the forum for related issue.

Is your host physical network adapter a wired or wireless network adapter?

Post ipconfig /all from the Vista host

Post ifconfig -a from the Linux guest

Post the .vmx file from the virtual machine

How is your host connected to the network/internet? (cable modem, DSL, Router..etc)
