Super High Disk Queue Lengh on Host after Shutdown

I have a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Host machine and a VMware Workstation 10.0.3 build-1895310 with several guest virtual machines.

My computer is all fine and happy until I decide to pause the guest VM....when the machine pauses, shortly afterwards my computer becomes incredibly slow, basically every program that needs any disk access will take ages to execute, and this is pretty much all my programs but Firefox...even if I close VMware the problem persists, the only thing that makes this go away is A LOT of time, or restarting the computer.

Here I have a print screen from my Resource Monitor and you can see that the Disk Queue Length on Disk M: is more than 100 (M: is my hard drive 1TB partition for files in general, while C: is a SSD partition for the Windows system) :

And here it's clear that the queue length is at 100%:

Does anyone has a clue on how to solve this?
