Previously I was using VMware Workstation and whenever I clicked the "Power on this virtual machine" button, the virtual machine itself would open in a separate Window, while the VMWare Workstation management screen stayed open in the original window (the same way as how it works in VirtualBox)
I have recently had to reformat my PC and reinstall VMware Workstation and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this again. I have looked absolutely everywhere across all forums and no one has any help. To reiterate I do NOT want the VM to open within the tab - I want it in a separate window.
Any help would be much appreciated.
AFAIK There is no built-in option in VMware Workstation to open a virtual machine in a new window. You can open a new instance of VMware Workstation. This will create a new window with no tabs.
You could use vmrun.
You could also use the Player UI, which launches a single VM in its own window. The Player UI is installed alongside of Workstation Pro, there is a shortcut in the Start Menu for it.
In the Workstation Pro UI, you can do a File-->New Window to open a new window, and open the VM in that window.
