Snapshot file in directory but not showing in manager

I recently created a snapshot of my VM (Windows 10) before saving the vm under a different name, renaming it in file explorer. I went to load the snapshot today and found that it didn't populate in the snapshot manager but the file is present in the VM directory.

Did you edit all the various text file contents with the new path and name?  If not, then everything is likely still pointing to the original folder for the virtual disk, etc.  I believe the snapshot info is stored in a .vmsn file.

No I don't think I did change the names of everything, is it possible to just change the name of the snapshot file and it  would work? Also, is this support board free of charge?

I don't personally use snapshots, so I'm going from memory of the manual and other posts here.. but I believe it may be a text file which you can edit.

For the other files, as an example, the vmx file contains the names/paths of the virtual disk files, etc.  So if all you did was rename the vmx file, it will still point to use the former virtual disk.  The virtual disk file, if using any format other than monolithic sparse, starts with a small text file which describes/configures all the other disk slices.  If you didn't edit the contents of that file, then IT still points to the former virtual disk files.  So, if the snapshot file follows the same design, then you may need to edit the contents of the file to point to the actual snapshot files.

And, yes, this forum is free.  Note that while some VMware employees sometimes read and post here, the majority of us are users just like yourself.
