Slow virtual machines after installing VMWare Workstation Pro

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum.

I've always used VirtualBox and now I'm trying VMWare Workstation Player and Pro with the intention to proceed with the purchase

A few days ago I installed VMWare Workstation Player in Windows 10 and installed a virtual machine with MacOS Mojave and another with Windows 10.

Both set up with 4 processors and 8 GB of RAM. The physical PC at 16 GB of RAM in all.

Both, obviously started one at a time, went fast enough.

After a few days I installed the VMWare Workstation Pro trial and opened the same virtual machines, always one at a time, but I have the feeling / conviction that they run much slower than before.

The strange thing is that if I go back to using the Player they are still slow.

It therefore seems that the installation of the Pro edition has slowed everything down even on the Player.

Do you have any idea about this problem?

Suggestion for speeding up virtual machines?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi LupoNero,

Firstly it’s hard without a benchmark so things can be highly subjective at this point however if you power down one of the VMs does the other run okay?

Also check that debug mode is not on: Gathering Debugging Information

Kind regards.

I have done other tests.

Here you don't need a benchmark as the slowdown is obvious.

It seems that the problem is some VirtualBox conflict.

To reproduce:

1. Restart the physical PC

2. Use VMWARE, everything is ok and pefermance is great

3. I open and close Virtual Box

4. I go back to using VMWARE and the performances are now very poor.

Since the intention is to remove VirtualBox I have solved my problem.

However it could be useful for someone to solve this problem.

Thank you.
