This is not a new problem, it happened since vmware tools version 6.5 onwards, but I did not get bordered until now.
In Linux Host 64 bit, running vmware tools 6.5.x in windows guests and
when you use MS media player to watch video the video is skewed or
slanting.
In my older VMs with older vmware tools versions they are OK, once I updated vmware tools to 6.5.x in these VMs, this problem
will start showing up.
I think it should be SVGA driver bug. My media player version is 9.00.00.3250 from
32 bit Windows XP professional. This is typically seen when playing back
MS wmv file, but not every wmv file will encounter with such a problem . I am very sure that I am not the only user facing this issue, but I searched here and could not find any answers.
Besides video being slanted, there is also a green colored bar at the bottom of video.
I attached 2 VM screen captures with the details of a sample wmv file for reference.
Can any one comment if there is a solution?
Currently I am being forced to keep some VMs without updating their tools to 6.5.x
