Should I remove the vm tools before setting the open vm tools as suggested?

Hi,

I am getting the suggestion to use open vm tools trying to update to the latest version on ubuntu in wks 12.

Should I remove the installed version of vm tools, before getting them from apt-get?

Thanks

Yes, that is correct. Remove the VMware Fusion supplied VMware Tools when installing open-vm-tools.

Please note that there are problems with open-vm-tools and Shared Folders on Ubuntu 15.10 64 bits, due to ubuntu not implementing the fix from VMware for whatever reason.

So if your VM is working fine now, then just let it be.
