I want to use VMware to set up an ASP.NET development environment. My host is running Windows XP and my VM is running Win Server 2003. The question is how can I get the 2 operating systems communicating with each other?
I would like to have Visual Studio installed on the host but my website/database running on my VM. I would like to share files between the operating systems by mapping a drive from the host e.g.
devserver\c$ . I would like to access the website running on the VM on the host i.e. http://devserver/whatever.aspx .
I was using VMware server but I couldn't even share files between the os's as it had no support for Shared Folders. Is VMware workstation a better choice to achieve this or is it just dependent on how I configure win XP and win 2003? Can anyone give me some pointers as to what sort of configuration I need and where I can start?
