Setting Display Resolution of Workstation Player 12.5.8 Win10 - Mac High Sierra Guest

I have run into an issue with display settings for a Mac High Sierra guest VM, using Workstation Player 12.5.8 Win 10. Running the VM on a high Res physical monitor produces tiny fonts on all guest windows. The Mac OS allows the increase of font size (up to 160), which is still tiny. I also tried setting compatibility of the Player to "Override high DPI scaling" without success.

After researching online, it appears that Workstation 12 has additional settings available to set the global display settings of the application, which are not available in Player 12. Users running Workstation 12 have been able to solve this problem using these global display settings.

Q1. Is it so that Player 12 does not offer the same capability to change global display settings as Workstation 12?

Q2. Is there a way to achieve the same thing in Player 12 using/editing some type of configuration file?

Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

Hi,

Welcome at the VMware communities forum.

Unfortunately Apple does not allow you to run a virtual macOS or OS X on non-Apple branded hardware.

Since this violates Apple's EULA (and as such the VMware Community Terms of Use), any issues you have with trying to run macOS or OS X using VMware Workstation or VMware Workstation Player cannot be discussed at this forum.

You'll need to have apple hardware and use a product like VMware Fusion or VMware ESXi and run a virtual copy of macOS / OS X on that in order for us to be able to help you.

Hope you understand,
