Set VMnet1 and VMnet8 to "Home Network"

In network and sharing center Windows shows VMnet1 and VMnet8 as an "Unidentified Network" and "Public network"

How can I change this to be something like "VMWare" and "Home Network"

Setting them to "Home Network" is what I'm mainly after so that the guest can see the hosts shares.

Which OS do you talk about?

Have a look here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Choosing-a-network-location

I'm using WIndows 7 - but the link you point me to assumes the network is identified ... in the case of vmware the network is "Unidentified Netowrk" so the option to set it's type is not available.

Oha, I didn't know that, yet.

OK, I found the answer in this KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100481...

By using the last option I can set them as end points, whcih removes them for the Network center and because they are end points, windows firewall does not apply so I can use NAT on the Guest and still see the host regardless of how the host is connected to the internet (Home or Public)
