Good morning
VMWare workstation Pro 16.2.5 on OPENSuse Leap 15.4
VM = Windows 10 Pro
Since last Kernel update (9/20/2023 morning) and Windos 10 virtual machine update (9/19/2023 evening) = "Removable Device" no longer works.
Devices are constantly connecting and disconnecting and it is impossible to connect/disconnect anything.
HELP!!!

Probably the issue is linked to OPENsuse.
i'm not familiar with lunix, but can't you uninstall or rollback the kernel update?
Hi did you some troubleshooting? Reboot the server? Remove the "usb device" from the vm settings in workstation and add it again? Is VMware Tools up-to-date?
Same after Server Reboot, removal then addition of the USB device
+ reinstalling VMware tools
To move forward, I tried installing Player 17
./VMware-Player-Full-17.0.2-21581411.x86_64.bundle
Extracting VMware Installer...done.
Then: nothing more, everything stops without an error message
So what's more, I can't install version 17???
Same thing with a Windows 11 virtual machine.
It is therefore a problem linked to the change of the LINUX kernel of OPENsuse Leap 15.4
(sorry for my English, it's google translate)

This is the direction I think I'm going.
Either I go back to the previous kernel (I think it's possible and I asked the question on the OPENSuse forum)
Either I go directly from LEAP version 15.4 to version 15.5.
For me, this is actually not a VMware problem.
Hello again
Okay, some news on this problem:
1. Updating openSUSE Leap 15.4 to 15.5 => same problem
2. Changing USB Controller from 3.1 to 2.0 => Different symptoms
Stabilization of "Removable device" and we can connect/disconnect elements... But:
1. Connect/disconnect a “Network Adapter” or a “Printer” => OK
2. Connecting a USB device = OK... except that it has no effect
For example, switching the scanner to USB in connected state => It is marked as connected, but remains invisible.
So, it is completely impossible to use USB on a VMware virtual machine.
I'm still not sure if the problem is with VMware (unlikely) or the latest Linux kernel versions ???
