Remote machine is Hyper-V, need to run VMWare workstation

I have a remote machine that I use Teamviewer to login to from home. It is a Hyper-V virtual machine.

I have several VMWare virtual machines that I need access to and when I attempt to run VMWare Workstation I get this error:

"VMware Workstation and Hyper-V are not compatible. Remove the Hyper-V role from the system before running VMware Workstation."

Now, I turned off the hypervisorlanchtype using the command "bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off"

Windows Boot Loader

-------------------

identifier              {current}

device                  partition=C:

path                    \Windows\system32\winload.exe

description             Windows 7

locale                  en-us

inherit                 {bootloadersettings}

recoverysequence        {c854307d-5641-11e4-b11d-3417ebd9926c}

recoveryenabled         Yes

osdevice                partition=C:

systemroot              \Windows

resumeobject            {c854307b-5641-11e4-b11d-3417ebd9926c}

nx                      OptIn

hypervisorlaunchtype    Off

But, I still get the message after the machine has been rebooted.

How can I run VMWare workstation on this Hyper-V instance or can I?

Hi,

You cannot run VMware Workstation within a Hyper-V virtual machine.

The warning and tip on how-to resolve it are about a physical host that has the Hyper-V role enabled.

I agree that the warning should be a bit more clear.

Edit: It seems that some nested virtualisation with Hyper-V is nowadays possible. See this article: https://dscottraynsford.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/install-a-vmware-esxi-6-0-hypervisor-in-a-hyper-v-v...

While that might work for VMware Workstation as well, you probably still can't boot any 64 bits VMs in there if I read the warning that ESXi came up with correctly.
