Read-Only folders issue

Hi everyone,
thank you in advance for responding

i'm new to VMware and i'm attempting to transfer a folder from the VM to the host hard drive
but im unable to because the folder is set to Read-Only and everytime i uncheck it, and apply. if i open folder properties it has reset to Read-Only

all folders and files are locked in the same way.
this is really irritating and ive search so many forums and no solution has worked.
anyone input on this matter would be appreciated
thank you.

What VMware product and version?

What Host OS and version?

What Guest OS and version?

Have you installed VMware Tools in the Guest?

Explicitly and specifically how are you trying to "transfer a folder", via VMware Shared Folder, an Industry Standard SMB/CIFS Share or Drag and Drop from the Guest's Display to the Host's Desktop, etc.?

When you added the Shared Folder you didn't check the Read-only check box did you?

Can you Drag and Drop an individual file, not folder, from the Guest to the Host or vice versa?  (Not using VMware Shared Folders, using DnD)

No i did not, removed and re-added the folder several times, double checked each time

and cannot DnD, in Guest isolation both Drag and Drop and Copy and Paste are enabled
