Hey, I was wondering If I could set autoprotect snapshots at 10 minute intervals.
May sound wierd, but I purchased Workstation 8 so I could play MS-Dos Role-Playing Games, and save states where most of these games have really tough save routines.
Also, Is there a way to speed up snapshots. I have Windows XP at about 4 minutes per snapshot. I would be willing to buy a SSD if that would in fact speed up the snapshots.
Also again. Where are these snapshots stored.
Thank You Very Much.

@Scorpion99 The subject of this thread is "Question About Snapshots" so please enlighten us, especially in light of the fact that bobrpggamer already stated "I purchased Workstation 8", what DOSBox has to do with taking Snapshots in VMware Workstation!? bobrpggamer is looking to utilize the Snapshot feature as a way to quickly and easily save the state of the game he playing as he's playing it and while DOSBox can create a movie of the screen and or save a screenshot this is not the same as using Snapshots in VMware Workstation which is what this thread is about!
Hey, thanks for the Info. I use dosbox already. I like to use the Direct 3D and OpenGL shaders and enhancements.
Thing is, even with dosbox - which is unlike many emulators (Winae, Zsnes ect.) - does not have a save state feature. When I play Bards Tale for example, I will be 2 levels down in a dungeon and get killed, Meaning 2 hours of gameplay has to be done over, so I have to start back from the Inn when I saved last, and do the entire dungeon over and hope to get back to the Inn, so I can save the game. With Auto Snapshots in Windows XP, I can load a snapshot that I took 5 -10 minutes ago and be closer to the part of the game I got killed on. Same goes for Might and Magic and many others. This also helps with corrupted or accidentally deleted save files.
By the way I got 10 Minutes Snapshots going already, I just changed the setting in the Vmx file.
What I also plan to do, is to use a program called Watch Directory. This will monitor the snapshot folder and make a copy of it somewhere else with the time and date on the file - so as not to overwrite - . This may seem a little ridiculous to some I am sure. But I love the old Roleplaying games, and I hate to have to repeat 2 hours of gameplay over every so often because of the old game save systems.
I have a Six Core i7 with 16 GBs of ram in Windows 7 64 so when I am taking a snapshot in the background, I don't notice any lag at all.
Thank you for your help.
