Problem with installing VMware Workstation 8.0.0/8.0.2/8.0.3 on Fedora 16

Dear Friends,

I've encountered a very strange problem.

I've installed a fresh installation of Fedora 16 x64 on my laptop (Lenovo T420). After installing all the newest updates, the kernel version is 3.3.4-3.fc16.x86_64.

When I'm trying to install VMware Workstation 8.0.0 or 8.0.2 or 8.0.3, in the middle of the installation progress, the installation is doing a "rollback" for some unknown reason, and ends up with the error message "Installation was unsuccessful" (see attached screenshots).

More than that, I've tried to work with the first installed kernel (v3.1xx), and got the same error exactly.

Because this is absolutely fresh installation, I'm sure that a lot of people using Fedora 16 and Workstation 8.0.x had encountered it.

Please see attached screenshots, and logs.

By the way, I've tried to run the patches that required for the new kernels, of course it didn't do nothing, because the VMware Workstation is not installed yet:

I've got no clue where to start to debug this error, please help me... Smiley Sad

Really thank you very much, I'll really appreciate your help !!

Looks like it can't find the headers for your kernel.  Try to look for the rpm for kernel headers l and install those. They will be available easily if you google the exact kernel  However I've had no problem installing  VMware 8  and inserting  the reg key - even creating a VM.  However when powering on the VM the result is always an immediate kernel panic.  I've never found a solution for this anywhere fon this here or fedora forums or googling the problem.  In fact I've  never seen anyone post they have actually started a VM on Fedora 16/17. If anyone has it would give me hope to try again or try to debug the kernel - maybe compile a custom kernel.  For now I never even try anymore.
