Problem upgrading to latest WS 6 on Red Hat

I've currently got Workstation 6.04 installed on Red Hat (v4-2.1.8, kernel 2.6.9.42.0-10) which I upgraded from 5.5 using the .tar installer. I'm now trying to upgrade to 6.5 using the bundle, but when I try and run the bundle I get the following error message: error: %preun(VMwareWorkstation-5.5.3-34685.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

I'm guessing that this is telling me there's a 5.5 component somewhere which wasn't removed when I installed 6.04, but as I know precious little about how to use Linux beyond following instructions and our IT support have very kindly reneged on a previous agreement to provide support, I'm stuck. I've tried uninstalling 6.0.4 first but I still get the same message.

So, could anyone suggest how to sort this out, either by finding and removing the offending bits of 5.5 or instructing the bundle installer to remove/ignore them?

Thanks,

Adam
