Printing problem

Hello there,

I have a little glitch with VMW workstation 5

The host is a WINXP SP2

The printer is parralel on LPT1

Now when I print from the host it works fine, if I print on the VMW box it works fine, but if the VMW is on, the host will not print anymore.

If I close the VMW then I can print again on the host !

I am new to the world of VMW and I am now clueless

All suggestions are welcome

Thanks

Only one PC can use the LPT1 at a time. Consider your VM a PC. If you disable your LPT1 on the VM, your host can print while the VM is on.

Hope this helps!

Hello KY,

Thank you for the help, would you know a way to share the printer without causing that problem ?

Thanks

One way would be to NOT have the printer port recognized on the Guest. You could then go to the host and share the printer via networking. Then, at the guest, you could use it as a network printer.

Good Luck!

I would jsut share the printer on the host side as a network printer. Then access it that way from the guest.

Good Luck!
