Printer Setup

Searching through previous posts on suse vm usb printer problems resulted in discussions for Suse hosts and Windows Xp guests. I have the reverse configuration -- XP host, Suse 10.2 guest, using WS 5.5.3.

Using YaST printer setup, I couldn't find a "canon pixma ip1500" driver. Canon's web site only has driver downloads for Windows OS's -- No linux drivers!

Should I try to use a compatible driver (if so, which one)?

WTFO?

Thanks.

This is not a VMware problem but a Canon one...

Canon do not release drivers for linux. But you can try this software:

Turboprint driver works well, so thanks for that tip, alelievre.

I'm surprised there isn't a free driver version out there somewhere, since there is so much free support for Linux, but I'm still grateful to have found a solution. Thanks again.
