On an encrypted VM are the files created when you suspend also encrypted?

When you suspend the memory to disk and it creates the vmss files and stuff is that encrypted like the disk is?

Hi,

This is one of those things where I think that it actually does, but ... that's far from an official statement. I don't even work for VMware.

I checked the documentation of VMware Workstation on encrypting VM's and .... it doesn't say anything about this.
Then I figured to look at the vmss2core fling as it might have notes about this in the documentation and ... not seeing that. There is a comment from a vmware employee that suggests the files are encrypted, but that isn't a very official comment.

See: https://flings.vmware.com/vmss2core/comments

You should use -W8

(if vmss2core still doesn't work, check whether you have VM encryption enabled)

Hmm..

Perhaps @covelli can enlighten us?

edit: added a link to encrypting VM's documentation
