No sound driver found

I am running Mandriva under VMWare and Windows XP but there is no sound driver found?

Have you added an audio adapter to your VM? If so, it should (most likely) be a Creative Labs' SoundBlaster AudioPCI (ESS1371) device.

Hi Keith,

It's not clear to me what is the host OS and what is the guest OS of the virtual machine.

Host is Windows XP

Virtual is Linux Mandriva 2007.0

In VMWare the sound device is:

Realtek AC97 Audio

Yes, that's what HOST audio adapter will be mapped to the virtual audio adapter in the guest. The guest will see the device I posted above.

No, here are my Guest choices....

Autodetect

Open Sound System

Advanced Linux Sound Architecture

No Audio Input/Output

Jack Audio Connection Kit

Threaded Open Source System

When I go into the hardware configuration screen in the Guest system......here is what I see as the sound card

Sound Blaster AudioPCI64V/AudioPCI128

ok, I played around with the drivers in Harddrake and even though it said the installation was unsuccessful, after two tries BINGO. It now works.
