No mouse available in vanilla Red Hat 7.4 guest

Hello there,

I'm running Workstation Pro 12.5.8 build-7098237 on Win10x64.

and downloaded and installed rhel-server-7.4-x86_64-dvd.iso

The ISO was recognized as Red Hat Linux and the fully automated installation went fine. Linux is set up, I can login and all.

But the mouse is not recognized at all. No mouse cursor, no marking, no pasting Smiley Sad

I'm new to Linux and probably there is something totally obvious that I miss...

Cheers, Tom.

Just a question here but can you see a graphical login for the RHEL guest ?

Are you using the default GNOME interface ?

Thanks for asking, blastwave.

No, there is no graphic UI. After booting I get the textual login from Linux.

And I haven't seen/don't know what the GNOME interface is.

Is this VMware related, or Linux related?

Cheers, Tom.

Hi,

You only get mouse support in a graphical Linux environment.

So if you only have a console interface then there is no mouse support.
