No Bridged Network VMnet0 after Host upgrade to win 8.1

Hi I have many VM that worked good, and then i upgraded to VM Workstation 10 the other day and all went well.

I ran some VM's after and the Network worked. All VM are set as Bridged.

I then updated the Host PC from windows 8 to 8.1. Now when i run VM workstation and run a VM i have no network connection,

and i get an error (see attached screen shot) about no VMnet0 not running.

If i try and add VMnet0 in network editor and set to bridged or change VMnet1 to bridge i get an error see screenshot #2

Any idea what is wrong or what to check. Never had this type of problem before.

I checked services on the Host and did not find VMnet services.

I have no VMnet0 setup in Virtual Network Editor and if i try and add it i can not set it as bridged. I am not sure i had VMnet

setup before i think i just checked Bridged in the VM setup and it just worked before but don't now.

Thanks for any help

Rainey

Nevermind.

I got it working, I closed all VM's.

Opened Network Editor and restored Defaults and it is working now.

I searched and read that in some other post.

Hello Rainey,

Since you upgraded the OS to 8.1 now I would suggest to re-install the Workstation too. I had this similar problem, but it was fixed by re-installing the WS.

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads up.

It seems to be working but i am looking into maybe slow performance of disk and network.

So i guess it can't hurt to reinstall or run repair.

It turned out my Win 8 guests had the NIC set as E1000e in the vmx files. I guess i never used the network much in those VM's as it did not work right. After changing them to e1000 it works good again.

I did reinstall VM workstation but i did not notice any difference in the few issues i had.
