I want to upgrade my desktop. currently have Windows Vista Home Premium x64 AMD processor 2.0 ghz. two hard drives. Vista on a 80gig and VMware 6.5.2 and various Linux distro's on a 60gig drive.
I want to upgrade to a faster processor and use only one large hard drive 250 gig. I would divide this into two drives and put VM on part of it. should there be much risk of corrupting Vista which would be the
host?
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Larry
Make sure to backup your data first before you upgrade your processors and if you have enough drive connections, you can use all 3 drives at once.
1. 60GB should be use for C: drive (windows installation and applications)
2. 80GB should be your data drives (D:)
3. 250GB should be your virtualization drive (V:\virtual machines\ all your test VMs are here)
Other than that, you should be careful when upgrading your CPU and make sure its compatible with your board.
