I've searched the boards, and I can't find anything on this. I might have missed it, and if I have, I appologize in advance.
Is there any way to find my perfectly legal VMWare licence so I can install it on my new laptop before formatting the hard drive?
Thanks
Rick
PS: What version of VMWare I'm using, not to mention the product and the host os might help, no?
VMWare Workstation 5.5.3-34685 running on Windows XP Pro.
Thanks. I got that serial number, but it's giving me an error message. It says it can't find any licenses for my serial number. I saw this on the boards when I was searching for this answer, so I'll look there to see if I can find the answer there.
Thanks again for your help.
I found another solution. I went into regedit, under LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMWare, Inc.\VMWare Workstation and exported the License.ws.5.0 key. Imported it to my new machine, and I'm all set.
Yep, that works. You didn't say in your initial post that you had your old system still installed.
As far as the web site, your serial \*should* be in your account's product listing (as long as you've registered it with VMware). You can always contact sales if it's not showing up there in the list.
