New Computer Old Hard Drive

I just upgraded to a dual core machine from Pentium 4 using my old hard drive. I had to reinstall Windowx XP Pro and VM Workstation in the C drive. I did not create a new vm machine, just accessed the one saved on the D drive but everything is running slow and I have no internet access.

What do I need to do? Do i just wipe everything out and start over? I am afraid to because this existing station have a different IP address.

Thanks

I changed to NAT and is able to get to the internet. My old seeting was using Bridge. How come it doesn't work now?

Ok I don't know what I did and everything is working as it should. I shouldn't have smoked pot while working on this maybe i'll remember, lol Smiley Happy)

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll be back for more questions soon

It possibly didnt work because it may have changed IP on the bridged network - if you have DHCP and it maybe got a new MAC address because it thought it had been moved perhaps? it would then be a new IP, and the new IP may not be allowed out through your router/firewall.

I just want to make sure I don't mess up the settings I have now that is working, I would like to make a backup copy of what I have. How is this done?

I am also going to connect from another location with 2 different ip address (back and forth from home and work), will it auto configure everything for me? Since I don't remember what I did to fix it the first time, I am so afraid to change anything.

Should I start a new thread for my question above?

As I was afraid of, I am back to my setup at home from more than a month from another country and now I don't have a connection on my VMWare. I tried to even use the backup copy and no luck.

As previously stated, I don't know how I fixed it in the first place. Someone please give me any ideas on where to start.

Thanks

Denise
