Network unreachable on host network

Hello,

I am very new to VMWare, so I apologise for what I assume will be a pretty simple question. 

I am needing to have to virtual machines that need to be connected to each through a host network, however when I try to ping the machines from eachother I keep on getting the error message 'network is unreachable'. 

I'm assuming I've configured something wrong, but I'm unsure where.

If you could post some details on how you have each virtual machine's network settings configured in Workstation, that would help us figure out what might be wrong. Specifically, do you have the virtual machines' virtual network adapter set for bridged or NAT networking?
