NT Driver Issue

Hi

I am currently building a business case to implement VMware into the company which I work for. The big cost saving woudl be for us to get rid of old NT machine that run equipment and place them into a VM.

I was wondering how I would go about this -

The host machine would be a Dell workstation with Windows XP installed, the VM product woudl be VMworkstation. The guest(VM) would be a Windows NT machine accessing the machinery via a PCI card in the host. .

The problem is that the current physical NT pc has a card in the back plugged directly into a large piece of machinery, we can not move ti to XP due to a driver issue, so the question I have is would the above set up work, or would it fail due to their being no XP drivers for the host to reconginse the card.

Unfortunately, that solution will not work for you either. Virtualized guests cannot directly address hardware in the host like that. PCI devices cannot be passed through to the guest.
