I'm running Fedora 37 with kernel 6.5.7. I recently upgraded VMware Workstation Pro to 17.5. Now as soon as I start a VM my laptop locks up solid. The only option I have is to power cycle. I have waited up to an hour to see if it recovers, but it doesn't. This happens with Windows VM or Linux VM. It happens whether I upgrade the VM or not. These are all VMs that worked fine before I upgraded VMware. As a comparison I have no problems running VMs with VirtualBox on the same system.
Is there a way to go back to the prior release of VMware Workstation Pro?

I have the same issue with host Ubuntu 23.10 with kernel 6.5.0-9-generic with VMware 17.5 but also 17.0.2 ...
Hi, pgaltieri, there is indeed a way to revert to the previous version of VMware Workstation Pro. Begin by visiting the official VMware website and download the previous version of VMware Workstation Pro. Safeguard your work by shutting down all of your virtual machines. Next, uninstall the current version of VMware Workstation Pro from your system. After uninstallation, it's crucial to reboot your computer to ensure a clean transition. Now, install the previous version of VMware Workstation Pro. Following installation, restart your computer to finalize the process.
You might need to adjust the hardware compatibility version of your virtual machines to align with the version of VMware Workstation Pro you've downgraded to. Right-click on the virtual machine you intend to adjust and select "Manage" and then "Change Hardware Compatibility." The "Change Hardware Compatibility Wizard" will open; proceed by clicking "Next." Select the hardware compatibility version that corresponds to your downgraded VMware Workstation Pro and click "Next."Review the proposed changes and confirm by clicking "Finish."
Thank you very much for the information. The one question I have though is in regard to Windows 11 VMs and TPM. I remember something having to do with re-encryption during the update to 17.5. Is there anything special I have to do to Windows 11 VMs in order to get them working when I go back to 17.0.2?
