I installed VMware Workstation 8.0.2 on a new workstation. My old workstation had 6.5.2. I transferred the VM files over to the new workstation. Now when I try to start up the VM, it gives me an error saying that I don't have permission to access the vmx file for that vm. I modified the NTFS permissions at the root of that hard drive so that I (administrator) have full control to all the files. I had the permissions propagate throughout. But I still get that permissions error when I try to start up the VM.
Another different between the 2 workstations is the fact that the new workstation is 64bit. The old was 32bit.
Any ideas?
Hi spikfrank,
I have bumped into some threads that might help though they're somewhat old:

Before going into the threads, I suggest you to double check and try to check the ownership & pernissions of the .vmx files.
Regards, Harold
Thank you! Will give it a try over the weekend.
